Show support for the little pieces that make up the whole with luminous necklace made from dichroic glass in Mexico.
The resplendence of dichroic glasswork dates all the way back to 4th century Rome, where it was prized for its ability to change color in the light. The term dichroic refers to controlled wavelengths of light that combine to create a fascinating iridescent sheen.

In 2003 Johana Vazques was a single mom in Guadalajara struggling to support five children on her own when she heard about Dichrodreams -- a local enterprise which taught locals the art of dichroic glassmaking. Johana entered the training program and was soon making beautiful jewelry. She began earning a living wage, and her family's future changed forever.
Johana puts it this way: ""Through my hard and skilled work I have been able to give food, shelter, education, and medical attention to my five kids. Two of the older ones now work in the company. It has been a world of opportunities for all of us.""
Iridescent dichroic glass is made by combining crystal and metal at high heat, an art form that originated in ancient Rome. The artisans of Dichrodreams took the craft a step further by incorporating sterling silver into the mix in 1999, experimenting with new techniques. The result is an exceptional work of art. Today Dichrodreams jewelry is sold in 55 countries, making it a leader in the dichroic glass and silver jewelry industry.
I bought this necklace for myself because my granddaughter is autistic. My daughter loved it ! So I gave it to her. The doctor saw it and told her how beautiful it is. I might have to order one for myself. Beautiful!
I ordered this piece of jewelry as a way to support the site, a craftsman and my grandson who has a PDD diagnosis. When I received this pendant, I was amazed at its intricate beauty. It is also unique, no two pieces turning out exactly the same. I would encourage everyone to find your own piece of dichroic glass jewelry. You will receive many compliments on it. I know I do.
Beautifully crafter. Just the right size for adult or child. Goes with everything. Made a great gift.
